ETA OMICRON SIGMA ALUMNAE CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. is a national collegiate sorority founded November 12, 1922 at Butler University by seven African-American educators. The Sorority has exemplified sisterhood, scholarship and service through countless community endeavors and partnerships. The dynamic women of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. have built and sustained a well-known and highly respected reputation for leading positive changes. With more than 500 chapters in the United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada, Germany, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Belize and Africa, the Sorority embraces the vision of “Greater Service, Greater Progress” which provides guidance and director in an effort to create a stronger and more positive community.

The Eta Omicron Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. has provided service to the Charles County community for more than 15 years. The chapter is dedicated to empowering women in all phases of their lives, and providing programming that has resulted in lifelong benefits for participating young girls and women.

In the tradition of our Founders, and the sorority’s mission and commitment to education, the Eta Omicron Sigma Scholarship committee is honored to provide financial assistance to deserving students with a vision towards achievement, scholarship and outstanding leadership skills.

Each year the chapter presents scholarships to community scholarships to deserving students. The scholarship is a designed to assist students with their educational goals who meet the requirement as set forth by the Scholarship Committee.

The chapter is offering two (2) scholarship opportunities for graduating high school seniors: 1) a $500 Charles County scholarship for graduating high school senior who are college or trade school bound; and 2) a $750 Rhoer scholarship for young women who are in the Chapter’s teen affiliate group.

The committee would like to invite all qualified applicants to apply for these scholarship opportunities. Please refer to the scholarship criteria below. Scholarship deadline is March 31.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be a Charles County HS Senior or an active member of the Eta Omicron Sigma Rhoer Club
  • Have a minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Be admitted to an institution of higher education or trade school for the upcoming Fall semester
  • Demonstrate leadership skills & community service experience
  • Complete the scholarship application, essay and provide most recent transcript by March 31
    (Note: academic and personal references provided will be contacted.)
